Taking on-board safety to the next level. The innovative Mcmurdo S20 AIS Man Overboard device provides greater crew safety and peace of mind. No programming required and easily installed inside the life jacket outer cover.The tiny Smartfind S20 AIS MOB is easily fitted to a life jacket using the clips supplied. When fitted the S20 remains hidden and protected inside the life vast outer cover, ready for use at any time. In the event of a man overboard, the life jacket inflates providing access to the S20 which can be quickly armed and then activated with two quick actions. Activation deploys the built in antenna and starts the flashing LED indicator light which makes you easier to spot at night.
The S20 can also be installed for automatic activation. When installed correctly and armed, the inflation of the lifejacket automatically activates the S20. (Recommended only with compatible life jackets.when fitted professionally by the life jacket manufacturer or an authorised service centre).
The S20 AIS MOB features a high precision GPS and it will transmit position information and a serialised identity number continuously for a minimum of 24 hours. When activated the S20 transmits an alert message and your exact position to AIS receivers and AIS equipped chart plotters. An AIS SART emergency alert icon on the chart plotter signals the requirement for urgent help. The chart plotter shows the exact location, and depending on the model, distance and bearing to locate the person and will allow quick recovery from your own vessel or other vessels in the area with a typical range of approximately 4 miles.
The S20 has a 7 year battery storage life (from date of battery manufacture) and a self test facility with battery use indication.
