Loos & Co
Setting up a rig by eye or by feel rarely gives the same result twice. Loos & Co, a US maker of wire rope and aircraft cable, builds tension gauges that put a number on each stay and shroud.
Gauges in the Loos range here include:
- Professional tension gauges for 1x19 stainless wire from 2.5 to 10 mm, in three sizes
- Readings from about 5% to 25% of the wire's breaking strength
- Adjustment of the rig with the gauge still fitted to the wire
- Rod tension gauges for rod rigging from 4.4 to 9.5 mm, with the rod sliding between the rollers
Noting the readings once the rig is tuned makes it simple to return to the same settings after the mast has been unstepped.
