Windex
Invented in Sweden in 1964 and still made there, the Windex shows the wind direction at the masthead on boats from 3 m to well over 12 m.
Models available, chosen by boat length, include:
- Windex 10 C for boats of 3-6 m, supplied with a Unifix base
- Windex 15 MK2 for 5-12 m, supplied with a Unifix base and a bird spike
- Windex XL for boats of 12 m or more, fitted in an 8 mm hole
Each vane rides on a sapphire jewel suspension bearing, with a large fin and a low-inertia arm that is sensitive in light air. The tacking tabs are fully adjustable, and reflector tape on the vane and tabs keeps it easy to see by day and night.
