Ryse Energy
Ryse Energy builds small wind turbines for power away from the grid, and its marine AIR models charge a boat's batteries through a built-in, microprocessor-controlled regulator.
Wind power from Ryse in the shop includes:
- AIR Breeze, for low to moderate winds, with a sealed housing; it starts turning at about 4.3 knots
- AIR-X Marine 400 W for windier, harsher spots, rated 400 W at 12.5 m/s with a survival wind speed of 49.2 m/s
- 12, 24 and 48 V versions, with the regulator built into the turbine
- Original AIR-X replacement blades and an upgrade kit for the AIR-X
Both turbines mount on a 48 mm (1.5 in schedule 40) pole, so the choice comes down to the wind where the boat usually spends its time.
