Teak Decking System
Teak Decking Systems (TDS) builds teak decks for yachts and makes its own caulking, cleaner and hand tools for keeping them in shape.
A typical re-caulking job calls for TDS products such as:
- The reefing hook, to pull out old unbonded caulking
- The seam sander, which cleans the seam walls without touching the teak surface, plus spare strips
- Bond breaker tape, laid in the bottom of the seam so the new caulking grips only the two sides
- SIS 440, a one-part, neutral-cure caulking that needs no primer
- ECO-100 cleaning powder, which leaves the soft wood fibres in place
Bonding only to the sides of the seam lets the caulking stretch as the planks move. TDS advises against bond breaker tape in very shallow seams.
