Talurit
Since 1948, when its founder patented the original turnback ferrule, Talurit has specialised in the mechanical splicing of wire rope. The TCU ferrule applies that idea in copper, for stainless steel wire used around salt water.
Each size is matched to a wire diameter, for example:
- TCU 25 for 2 mm wire
- TCU 35 for 3 mm wire
- TCU 45 for 4 mm wire
- TCU 60 for 5 mm wire
- TCU 65 for 6 mm wire
Copper is used with stainless steel rope to avoid galvanic corrosion in a saltwater environment, which makes the TCU an alternative to stainless ferrules. The material is high-grade soft copper, seamlessly extruded over a mandrel. Pressing needs roughly 25% more force than an aluminium ferrule, using the same T-marked dies.
