Sutars
A plug that works loose from a 12 V socket is a common annoyance on board. Sutars sockets, manufactured in Sweden, have an internal rim that holds the plug firmly against vibration.
Design details include:
- A countersunk positive pole to avoid sparking
- A sealing cap and attachment that are UV-stabilised
- 6.3 mm flat-pin terminals, rated at 16 A from 6 to 50 V
- Flush-mount sockets with a rectangular (1206) or round (1216) flange for a 27 mm hole, plus a surface-mount version (1212)
The socket accepts both Sutars plugs and standard car cigarette-lighter type plugs, and all of its metal parts are nickel-plated brass to prevent corrosion.
