Spinlock XAS & XA Base Module 4-8mm
The Spinlock XAS & XA Base Module (XAS-BASE0408) is a replacement or upgrade base for Spinlock XAS clutches and the earlier XA clutches, giving optimised holding on small-diameter lines from 4 to 8 mm. Spinlock strongly recommends it for sportsboats and other small high-performance boats.
Fit - The aluminium base, marked "ROPE RANGE 0408", fits the XAS0408 single, double and triple clutches and the XAS0408 side-mount port and starboard versions. It also converts a standard XAS0612 (6-12 mm) clutch to hold 4-8 mm lines. On XA clutches, it can only be used on single-unit clutches. The base is refitted with the clutch's own three side screws. Fitting
- Remove the clutch from its mounting surface and take out the three fastening screws from the side of the clutch
- Remove the port side moulding, gently easing it off with a screwdriver, or remove the handle pin from the port moulding with a suitable punch
- Remove the forward and rear mouldings, sliding the spring arm out of the hole in the blue pivot in the rear moulding, then remove the base from the mouldings
- Slide the new base into the forward and aft mouldings and push the blue pivot moulding into place from the port side of the rear moulding, making sure the spring is trapped on the spring arm
- Locate the spring arm in the cam through the hole in the port side
- Replace the side moulding with all parts located correctly between both side mouldings, replace the three fastening screws and refit the clutch on its mounting surface
