Proboat
Leaving the full anchor load on the windlass puts it under constant stress. A Proboat chain hook lets you transfer that load to a line made fast on deck quickly.
Using the hook, for example:
- Slide the slot over the chain and take the line to a cleat or samson post
- Let a loop of chain hang, so gravity stops the hook from coming off
- In rougher conditions, use a longer elastic line to absorb the energy, which helps prevent the anchor from dragging
The hook is made from AISI 316 stainless steel to a proven industrial design that Proboat says is widely used in commercial shipping and heavy haulage. It is available for 6, 8 and 10 mm chain.
