Duralac
Stainless screws in an aluminium mast are a classic recipe for galvanic corrosion. Duralac, first created in the 1920s, is a jointing compound applied between dissimilar metals to inhibit it.
Typical places to use it include:
- Mast installations and rigging fittings
- Aluminium parts held with stainless steel bolts, screws or rivets
- Other fittings where two different metals meet
Duralac Green, the chromate-free version that has replaced the original, is a single-part, air-setting paste. There is nothing to mix: brush it onto clean surfaces just before final installation. It gives tough, flexible adhesion with very low water absorption, resists erosion even under high-pressure water flow and comes in a 115 ml tube.
