SSB Ecoflex 10 Ultra Low Loss VHF Cable
Where thicker cable can be used, many installations take advantage of the better performance of RG213/U. With only 0.7dB loss over 10 metres in the 100 Mhz band, it is a big improvement on the 1.7dB loss of RG58/U. However for a 10mm cable we should expect better performance.

Ecoflex 10 from SSB in Germany is the next generation of very low loss cables. It is 50Ω 10.1 mm cable as with RG213/U but with a loss of only 0.38dB over 10 metres, a performance improvement of 45%. It is flexible and has a 7-core stranded inner conductor made of low-oxygen copper, double shielding, with overlapping copper foil and copper braid and black PVC UV stabilized outer coating.

For the best installation possible, we recommend Ecoflex 10 whatever space permits. An alternative would be Ecoflex 10 cable inside the boat to the mast base and then Aircell 5 cable through the mast to the VHF antenna.
